Excised - Playtest / Beta Demo

Hey,

This is a playtest/alpha-demo, and is the first ~1.5 hours of the game. The difficulty is currently tuned to be challenging but fair and rewarding. It is the introductory section of the game which is more linear than everything after it.

Made mainly by a team of two brothers. We are ~3 years into development and are now ready to share what we've been working on. 

We are mainly on Steam (wishlisting helps us), but if you leave constructive comments here - general feedback, bug reports and so on - we can add your username (or whatever you'd like) into the credits as play-testers.

- DESCRIPTION -

Excised is an action horror fugitive sim where you must escape a horrific dystopian city by using traps, ambushes, stealth, mysterious powers, and environmental exploits, or brutal combat, in order to gain your freedom and unravel the mystery that set your fate into motion.

• Excised is a first person action horror experience set in a dystopian city where you, a fugitive, are relentlessly hunted by a cast of formidable enemies with many dynamic and emergent ways for you to overcome them.

• Be inventive and develop your own approach towards obstacles, maybe use a non-violent indirect method to evade your pursuers. Devise ambushes and craft your playstyle with weapon, trap, tool and power combinations : violence or subterfuge -- the choice is yours.
• Excised encourages players to plan their next steps and to always be on the move. Even staying still and out of sight exposes the player to danger.

• Outwit dynamic and proactive AI that actively follows clues, including footprint and blood trails, and even takes shortcuts, blocks escape routes, and predicts your moves.
• Test your reflexes in unforgiving melee combat that emphasizes movement and quick-thinking.

• Innovative stealth that will test your sneaking abilities.

• Escalating tension as the Mechanical Mind of the city ticks down, narrowing its gaze on your location.

• Explore a dark city and mysterious narrative.
• And meet the people who persevere in this dark city.

- TLDR OF EXCISED -

- Retro mid/late 2000's game.

- Enemy behavior is designed to approximate a human villain-player from that asymmetrical multiplayer horror, monster hunters detective/hunter vision, tracking abilities.

- The game overall recreates the experience of being the main character from classic stories and movies, like: "Dark City", "Logan's Run", "1984", "We" (by Yevgeny Zamyatin), "THX 1138", "Soylent Green", and "Brazil".  

- Similar to the obvious inspirations but is its own unique experience.

- Is similar to immersive sims but focuses instead on player-enemy interaction, AI details, and emergent scenarios.

- Good replay-ability due to various gameplay options, but particularly because of the dynamic AI that can be very unpredictable and adapts to the players actions.

- Visually it is inspired by those famous film noir graphic novels, and art movements like Vorticism, Futurism and German Expressionism.
